Timothy "Tim" Hardy Obituary

Timothy Thayer Hardy, 68, of Boyne City, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey, Michigan, surrounded by his loving family. The Rev. David Behling will lead us in his Celebration of Life service. Interment will be held at a later date in Evangeline Township Cemetery.

Tim is the son of Phyllis Elaine (Thayer) Hardy and Elwood L. Hardy, Sr. He was born in Petoskey but grew up and attended school in Boyne City after living a few years in the Flint area. He graduated from BCHS, where he excelled in sports and making lifelong friends.

Tim fell in love with and married Lauri Lee (Peck) Hardy at the First Methodist Church on August 2, 1980. Tim and Lauri raised three beautiful daughters who in turn blessed them with 7 precious grandchildren. Tim was an incredibly hard worker, a loving husband, father, Boppa, Coach, and friend. He carried his love of sports throughout his entire life, coaching students at Boyne City and East Jordan Schools, as well as his daughters and grandchildren. He was a devoted U of M and Rambler fan.

Tim’s passions in life were his family, coaching, mentoring young athletes, and supporting his teams. He worked for over 30 years at Glen’s Mkts. and helped his brother-in-law, Steve Peck, caring for lawns and cottages around Walloon Lake. Tim grew up in a large loving family of a sister and four brothers, he was the youngest of the six siblings.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 45 years, Lauri, his three daughters: Keri Hardy, Mandy (Adam) Rase, and Ashley Hardy. His grandchildren: Lily, Mason, Jordan, CJ, Bella, Carter and Everlee brought him great joy.

He is survived by his sister, Janet Hardy, brothers Terry (Shelley) Hardy, Woody (Penny) Hardy, Les (Ruthann) Hardy, Greg (Vicky) Hardy and far too many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends to list.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phyllis and Elwood Hardy, Sr. and his in-laws Norma and Robert Peck.

A celebration of life will take place at the Vienna Room at Boyne Mountain on Saturday, July 19th, 2025, beginning with a visitation at 11 AM and a memorial service at noon led by Rev. David Behling. A light luncheon will immediately follow.

Please wear your Maize & Blue in honor of Tim’s favorite team.

Donations may be made to Boyne City High School Athletics or a charity of your choice.
