Born on December 11, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, Vickie built a life centered on family, raising her children in Carp Lake, Michigan, and later in Bonita Springs, Florida. Wherever she lived, she created a home grounded in care, consistency, and connection.
Vickie was a steady and active presence in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She found joy in the simple and meaningful moments—time spent together, a shared meal, a good book, a game of cards or cribbage. She showed her love not through grand gestures, but through her presence, her reliability, and the way she showed up for her family time and time again.
Throughout her life, she modeled strength, independence, and faith. While she held her Catholic beliefs in a quiet and personal way, they were a steady thread throughout her life. She found comfort in familiar hymns such as “In the Garden” and “The Old Rugged Cross,” reflections of the peace and faith that carried her through.
She is survived by her daughters, Renee (Jerry) Thigpen, Deana (Jeff) Foster, and Lisa Amodeo; her eight grandchildren, Crystal (Mike), Ashley, Alyssa (Michael), Taylor (Heather), Kara (JR), Danielle (Aaron), Kaela, Steve Jr. (Jessi), and Bobbi Jean (Aaron); and her sixteen great-grandchildren, Bobby, Dominic, Warren, Dixie, Kylie, Remington, Zander, Kali, Lyra, Jackson, Emmitt, Ellie, Aiden, Hunter, Trenton, Paisley, Ian, and Jade. She is also survived by her brothers, Perry and Wayne Nau, and her sister Rochelle Zapfe. She was preceded in death by her mom, Grace Cosens, and father, Stephen Cosens, her husband, Raymond “Bud” Alexander Jr., and her son, Steven Alexander.
In her final moments, surrounded by those she loved most, Vickie shared a message for her family and friends: thank you for the love, and for a life she considered deeply blessed by the presence of family and friendship.
Our family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for and loved Vickie throughout her life, and especially to those who supported her with compassion and dignity in her final days.

The world is a little less bright without her, but her strength, love, and legacy will continue to live on in all who knew her.
