Victor Nicholas Tsaloff, M.D.
September 23, 1934 - July 11, 2025
Victor Nicholas Tsaloff, M.D., 90, of Petoskey, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025. He was born on September 23, 1934, in Akron, Ohio, the eldest of three children of Dr. Nicholas and Betty Vesta (Danas) Tsaloff.
Victor graduated from John R. Buchtel High School in 1952 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Northwestern University, where he was a proud member of Phi Kappa Psi. He went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern University. His medical training included a one-year internship at Wesley Memorial Hospital and a three-year residency in radiology at Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
From 1961 to 1963, Victor served in the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. He then dedicated over three decades to his medical career as a radiologist at the Burns Clinic Medical Center and Northern Michigan Hospital, both in Petoskey.
Victor was deeply committed to his profession and community. He served in leadership roles on the Burns Clinic Board of Directors, the Burns Clinic Foundation, Northern Michigan Mental Health Centers, the Education Committee of Northern Michigan Hospitals, Inc., and the Northwest Chapter of the Michigan State Radiologic Society.
He was the first member of his family born in the United States. His parents each emigrated from Macedonia to Akron, Ohio, through Ellis Island—a heritage of which he was proud.
Victor had a lifelong love of sports, particularly University of Michigan football and the St. Louis Cardinals. He also loved tending his vegetable garden, a passion passed down from his grandfather. Known for his sweet tooth, he often took neighborhood kids out for ice cream—a quiet but memorable expression of his generosity.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Danny; beloved wife, Elizabeth; and daughter, Ellen.
He is survived by his son, Adam Tsaloff (Mary), of Petoskey, Michigan; his grandchildren, Dr. Grace Tsaloff (Emory Fralick) and Anne Tsaloff; his sister, Carol Arnold (Steve), of Evanston, Illinois; and his son-in-law, Bob Granflaten, of Madison, Wisconsin.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Birches, Perry Farm Village, in Harbor Springs and Hospice of Michigan for their compassionate care and support.
