Walter "Wally" Charles Borowy

Walter “Wally” Borowy, 97, of Harbor Springs, died January 15, 2021 at home with family by his side.

Wally was born on September 23, 1923, in Erie, Pennsylvania, the son of Joseph and Alexandria Borowy. Wally proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy from 1943-1946.

He married the love of his life, Lenore Gillard, and had four children, Jerry, Jane, Joseph and Jon. Wally started his own building company in 1947, “Borowy Builders”, which is still family owned and operated to this day. He worked on countless homes, hotels, and businesses in the northern Michigan area.

In his spare time, Wally enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. He was happiest when he was sitting around the campfire, sharing stories and laughter with his friends and family. Wally will be remembered as a loyal husband, great dad, and wonderful friend.

He is survived by his children, Jane Dorozan, Joe (Teresa) Borowy and Jon Borowy, all of Harbor Springs; his grandchildren, Destiny (Sean) Duncan, Tyler (Agustina) Borowy, Sara (Paul Jonart) Dorozan, Megan Borowy and Natalie Borowy; great grandchildren, Lily, Hazel and Olivia; as well as his brother, Stanley (Gerri) Borowy and sister, Eleanor Rosenthal.

Wally is preceded in death by his wife, Lenore; and by his son, Jerry.

There will be a Funeral Mass at Holy Childhood of Jesus Church in Harbor Springs (150 West Main Street, Harbor Springs, MI 49740) on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with one hour visitation prior to Mass.

Wally will be laid to rest beside his wife on Friday, January 22, at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township at 2:00 p.m.
