Watson Gregory, Jr. Obituary

Our Brother, the best brother in the world, passed away on Sunday November 30, 2025.

Watson, aka Watt, Louis Gregory Jr., was the first of six children of Watson Louis Gregory, Sr. and Winifred Rosiene (Martin) Gregory. Watson was born on January 16, 1933, in Petoskey, Michigan.

Watson is preceded in death by his WONDERFUL loving wife Harriet Leece; sister Ann May Gregory, Raad; brother Douglas Martin Gregory; sisters-in-law Mary Brown, Gregory, and Marilyn Miller, Gregory.

Watson is survived by Michael J. Gregory, Karen Busch Gregory, Mary C. Gregory, Patrick J. Gregory, and several nieces and nephews.

Watson graduated from Petoskey High School in 1951. Shortly after graduation he was off to Fort Knox, Kentucky, for training in Nuclear and Chemical Warfare in the US Army Armored Division, and then to the Korean War.

Watson was stationed in what has become the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in Korea during the War returning to Petoskey in 1954.

After returning to Petoskey, he became a plumber, pipe fitter and instrument technician. He worked for Bechtel while building the Big Rock Nuclear Plant and then Johnson Controls. For over 25 years he worked as maintenance supervisor at the Augustine Center of the Sacramentine Convent in Conway. They were thankful for him and enjoyed his creative and helpful ideas to modernize the facility. Great times for them and him.

He enjoyed coaching the Kiwanis Yanks Little League baseball team in the 50’s and 60’s, as well as umpiring. He played American Legion baseball and later softball for Bare Construction. He was also a member of the Elks and Eagles fraternal orders

He was the kind of guy that would drop everything to help others no matter the issues or who they were.

His smiling face and jovial personality will be missed by many.

There will be a memorial service for him in the spring of 2026.

Arrangements are in the care of Stone Funeral Home, Inc. of Petoskey, Michigan.
