William Salisbury Obituary

William Albert Salisbury, 93, of Boyne City, Michigan, passed away on May 27, 2025, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan, Michigan.

A son of Ford and Laura (Clemons) Salisbury of Shepherd Michigan, Bill was born there on February 15, 1932. He attended Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant for two years and then attended the University of Michigan, where he obtained his degree in Mechanical Engineering and was a member of The Vulcan engineering society. He furthered his education by attending the Chrysler Institute, where he received a Masters Degree in Engineering.

Bill worked in the automotive industry his entire career and was the owner of Salisbury Associates Ltd.

On July 6, 1957, he married the love of his life, Janice Haddad, in Windsor Ontario.  They were married for 67 years and enjoyed a beautiful life together.

Bill loved his family, traveling, and skiing.

He also loved the theater and, with Jan by his side, he directed and acted in many shows at the Farmington Players in Farmington Hills MI.  Bill and Jan later opened and operated the Komedy Players Dinner Theater in Allen Park MI in the 1980’s.

Bill was an avid traveller and visited over 30 countries abroad. He also travelled with his family and created many memories with them.

Bill and Jan arrived in Boyne City in 1975, spending summers and ski weekends together with the family.  In 2008, Bill and Jan moved to Boyne City full time.

Bill was a member of the Boyne Yacht Club, the Clinton River Ski Club, Friends of the Boyne Library and volunteered at the Good Neighbors Food Pantry. He was a member of the Performing Arts Committee at the Crooked Tree Arts Center and a volunteer usher at the Great Lakes Performing Arts Center, Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra, and Crooked Tree Arts Center.

Bill was a very warm, generous, loving person with a great smile and energy. A corny joke was never far from his lips and he always had a twinkle in his eye.

Bill is survived by his wife Jan; his children William (Diane) Salisbury, Jr., Lisa (Jeff Alden) Salisbury, and Bob (Erin) Salisbury; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings John Salisbury and Katy Christensen; sister-in-law Susan (Richard) Powell; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a charitable donation in Bill’s memory are asked by the family to consider Good Neighbors Food Pantry, PO Box 35, Boyne City, MI 49712 or at goodneighborspantry.org.

Arrangements are in the care of Stackus Funeral Home.
