William "Bill" Borglin Obituary

William Kindy Borglin, born in Detroit on August 30, 1939, died in Petoskey, Michigan, on November 24, 2019, at the age of 80.

Bill, as he was known to his many friends, graduated from Redford High School and then in 1961 graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in business. A few weeks later he married the love of his life and his high school sweetheart Mary Joan Donna MacKenzie. In 1982 he completed his Master of Business Administration from Central Michigan University.

Bill began his career in accounting in the Cadillac Division of General Motors. His career path took him to the Ford Motor Company where he worked for 30 years in its Sales Division, Office of General Counsel, Finance Staff, and Automotive Components Division in a variety of positions from Information Technology to Process Improvement. He was recruited to teach evening graduate classes at Madonna University in Livonia.

He retired with Donna to Harbor Springs, Michigan, in 2001.

A deacon and choir member of First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham and an elder and choir member of the First Presbyterian Church of Harbor Springs, Bill lived a life of service. He volunteered as a board member and treasurer of the Village of Hillside Apartments (senior living), as a board member of the Manna Food Project, and as a founding member of the Birchwood Outreach Fund’s Advisory Board. Bill served as President of the Birchwood Farms Golf and Country Club Board for three years and on the West Traverse Township Board of Review.

Bill was an avid skier and a certified National Ski Patroller at Boyne Highlands. He also loved playing golf and reading books for his book club.

Most of all Bill treasured spending time with his beloved family, wife Donna, with whom he traveled extensively, and sons John (Betsy), Jeff (Melissa), and seven grandsons Alex, CJ, Luke, Ben, Tyler, Seth, and Ethan. Bill was predeceased by his parents Carolyn and Ernie Borglin and his sister Ginny Barber. Bill is survived by his sister Barbara Keister and brother Chris (Nancy) Borglin, nieces Amy, Kara, Julie, Nikki, Heather, and Elizabeth, and nephews Jim, John, Craig, David, John Jason, and Eric.
