Wilma E. Ness, 73, of Indian River, died May 5, 2018, surrounded by her family.
Wilma was born August 21, 1944, the daughter of Albert and Alice (Stoneburner) Honeysette. She grew up on her family's farm in Alanson and attended the Littlefield Township School.
At the age of 17, she married Charles "Joe" Ness in Burt Lake. They made their home in Alanson and lived happily until Joe's death in 1977.
Wilma enjoyed sewing and tending to her flower gardens. She was very much an "outdoors girl" and had a keen eye for mushroom hunting. Her greatest joy was family. Wilma loved her children and grandchildren and would do anything for them.
Over the years, she worked as a clerk and cashier at various businesses, including I.G.A., Toski Sands and Glen's. Wilma also worked for many years as a home health caregiver.
Wilma is survived by her children, Tami Ness of Indian River, William (Brandi) Ness of Cheboygan, Jeff McFarland of Petoskey, and Cody (Megan) McFarland of Alanson; 13 grandchildren, one great granddaughter; and her sister, Avis Honeysette of Connecticut.
Wilma is preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her son, Rondo Charles Ness; brother, Floyd Honeysette; sister, Judy Ladd; and her parents, Albert and Alice Honeysette.
There will be a funeral service at the Alanson Church of the Nazarene on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Pastor Sam Agee will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at the Alanson Littlefield Township Cemetery.
