Yvonne C. (Tauren) Magnus

Yvonne “Vonnie” Catherine Magnus, 83, of Indian River, passed away on Sunday, 11/15/2020, after an extensive, courageous, and heart-wrenching battle with Alzheimers and Dementia.

In 1972, she married the love of her life, Robert Magnus, her cherished husband of 48 years.  They traveled frequently - cruises, road-trips, flights to delightful destinations, motorcycle adventures, and overnight boating trips. They lived in Milford, Michigan, for several years of their marriage, purchased their home in Indian River in 1991 and in 1997 became full time residents of the charming small town.  Yvonne loved their home on the river and, with fascination and awe, observed the wildlife on the river out the front window. She especially favored the swans and the chickadees. 

A loving mother and talented homemaker, Yvonne was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals, with her husband, for family on the holidays, most especially on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve.  Yvonne loved her family, “lake and river life," boating, jig-saw puzzles, and shopping; she also had a fascination for, and adoration of, jewelry.

Yvonne is survived by her loving husband/best friend of 48 years, Robert Magnus; her children Kevin Ollanketo and Tamara Ollanketo Birgy; her step-children, Dave Magnus, and Gary Magnus; her grandchildren Jeremy Ollanketo, Taylor Ollanketo, Tyler Birgy, Tanner Birgy; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Yvonne was preceded in death by her step-brother Edwin Elworth Lonhgern.

A small and private service in memory of Yvonne will be held on Friday, November 20th, honoring Yvonne’s wishes to not have a public funeral.
