Katherine "Kathy" Mae (Mosley) Smith

Katherine Mae (Mosley) Smith, 79 of Boyne City, Michigan passed away on June 6, 2023, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan, Michigan.

Kathy was born to Guy Clifton and Mary (Hadix) Mosley July 21, 1943, in Petoskey, Michigan. She graduated from Petoskey High School in 1962 and married her husband Arlen “Arnie” Smith August 17, 1963. Arnie and Kathy lived in Boyne City for most of their lives and raised two daughters, Shiela (Kevin) Smith Crandell and Karen (Greg) Smith Schroeder. Kathy worked at Allied Signal Areospace where she retired in 1997. She was preceded in death by both her parents; her stepfather Clifford Leazier; her husband Arlen “Arnie” Smith; siblings Jane Lounsbury, Rose Swank, Rebecca Schroeder, Clifford P. Leazier, and Roy Mosley

Kathy’s life centered around her family and friends, there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for anyone in need! She cherished being a grandmother to her two grandchildren Kyle L. (Wyn) Crandell and Breanne K. (Amanda) Crandell, both of Boyne City and looked forward to their summer visits up north. Kathy enjoyed her flower gardens, watching the wildlife come in and out of her birdfeeders, camping, fishing, and mushrooming. Recently Kathy became a great-grandmother to Gavin L. Crandell, and her life was changed forever, they had such an incredible bond, and it was truly love at first sight.

Rest in peace Mom, we will dearly miss your smiles and reassuring touch.

A graveside service for Kathy will be officiated by Father Matthew Furgiuele at Maple Lawn Cemetery on June 10, 2023, at 11:00 AM.
