Albert James Colby, Jr. Albert James Colby, Jr., 58, of Elmira, walked on, April 30, 2016.
Al was born August 2, 1957, in Petoskey, the son of Albert Sr. and Marjorie (Smith) Colby. He graduated from Petoskey High School.
After High School, Al joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country for six years. Al moved back to northern Michigan and started working for the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians in the early 1990's. He was extremely dedicated to his community. He served on the board for the local YMCA, and volunteered his time with various other community organizations. His greatest love was music; Al enjoyed playing and listening to all kinds of music. He also greatly enjoyed gardening and spending time with friends and family.
Al will be remembered for his unfailing care of those he loved and most of all for his boisterous laugh.
Al is survived by his three children, Melissa (Clayton Kincheloe) Colby of Charlevoix, Christina (Mathew) DuBois of Petoskey, and Nicholas (Heather Scahill) Colby of Jacksonville, Fl.; grandchildren, Miles DuBois, Ella DuBois and Baby Kincheloe (due in July); a brother, Thomas Colby; and his sister, Mary Baldwin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Sr. and Marjorie Colby.
There will be a visitation at Stone Funeral Home on May 4th from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held the following day, May 5th, at Greensky Hill United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. with an hour gathering prior to the time of service. Pastor Jonathan Mays will officiate the service.
