Arthur John Gruenhagen

               Arthur John Gruenhagen 83 of Harbor Springs died peacefully at his home on May 25, 2015 with loved ones at his side. Arthur was born January 2, 1932 in Waubay, MN to Rudolph and Fannie (Rosebohm) Gruenhagen. He grew up on the family farm in Bellingham, MN with 2 brothers Delmar and Eugene. At the age of 23 Art was raising his younger brothers when they moved to Harbor Springs where he bought a farm and fulfilled his passion for planting crops, gardening and raising livestock for the remainder of his life. Art loved talking about the weather and came to be known as “the weather man”.

               Art was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Petoskey and served as it’s custodian for 44 years. He had also spent time as a union mason for many years.

               Arthur was preceeded in death by his parents, brother Eugene, many aunts and uncles including Clarence and Faye Rosebohm who he grew close to over the years. He is survived by his brother Delmar of Miss. and a niece Debbie and nephew Mark, cousins Marlis, Linda, Charlene, Mary and Elaine and was considered a grandfather figure to Ashley and Alison Burch. He is also survived by his friend and companion of over 50 years Elaine Pontius.

               Art had a great outlook on life and never let the small things get to him. He enjoyed every moment of his life and said he would not change a thing. His loving soul will be missed by many.

              A graveside service will be held on Thursday May 28, 2015 at1:00 PM at Lakeview Cemetery in Harbor Springs. Pastor Matthew Peters will officiate. A luncheon will follow the graveside service at Zion Lutheran Church. The family is being served by Schiller Funeral Home. Online messages of condolence may be made at stonefuneralhomeinc.com.
