I first met Dan at the Toledo Great Eastern store in 1962. He was my second store manager. Mary Beth and Dan attended our our wedding in 1966 and we have remained friends ever since Dan always treated people with dignity and respect. I loved his laugh. Kathy and I have spent many enjoyable days visiting with Dan and Kathy just loved visiting with Mary Beth. We shared a lot of war stories about Sears.
Kathy and I will miss our visits to Fisher Rd. He was so proud of his family and never failed to talk about during our visit. Two very wonderful people who set great examples for all of us to live by.

Always in our prayers.

"Uncle Dan" Fisher was always one of my favorite Uncles, from my early years with visits to the DC Fisher home on Cumberland Way & Wellesley in Palmer Woods, through Dan's retirement years in Northern Michigan.
Dan and Mary Beth were always warm and welcoming, even if it had been some time since the last visit... and as soon as you entered a room Dan was in, you couldn't help but smile, because you knew a conversation with Uncle Dan Fisher was going to result in some "zingers" being tossed your way in the most gentle of fashions --- whether it was business, or politics, or any other current issue.
Dan was always genuinely and sincerely interested in what other people were doing or thinking... somewhat unusual in this day and age ...
Dan was a proud member of The Greatest Generation, and without his service in World War II, and millions of his brothers and sisters in all military branches, we would not be a free country today. This debt to our parents, and aunts, and uncles can never be repaid---it can only be honored and respected.
Finally, the measure of a Successful Father and Mother can only be fully understood when their lifetime work --- the nurturing and raising of their children --- (and grand children) is viewed over the years. Dan and Mary Beth were enormously successful with instilling their values in their children and grand children...Dan and Mary Beth have passed, but their memory will live on for many, many years to come.

Barbara and Family,
Jerry and I send our condolences on the loss of your father. No matter how old we are it is difficult to lose a parent. I have so many memories from the college days, Barb, of you talking about your family get togethers in Michigan throughout the year. Your eyes would sparkle so much when talking about your mom, dad and brothers and sisters. We are thinking about you during this sad time and know your family and friends will be of great comfort to you during this time.

Someone once said, "Today is a good day to be born....and today is a good day to die." Anytime a death occurs, it is in God's timing....but the key to any death is to hope the person who died was prepared to depart from his earthly dwelling.....I have no doubt that Mr. Fisher was one of much preparedness to meet His Lord and Master of All....Dan was a brilliant man, deep in his faith, loyal to his family, and gracious to all who came in contact with him. If you only met this man one time, you probably went away with much wisdom, and filled with knowledge about something he was fond of. He showed what love was about through his actions, through his words, through his polite mannerisms most sincerely. Dan was the type of person who welcomed you into his home now matter if he met you once, twice, or a hundred times. He made you feel important, loved, and that you mattered to him. He talked proudly of his family....his children were like olive plants around his table......always he smiled as he talked of them, and showed one around his home at the photos of his children, naming them as he mentioned them in telling about their accomplishments, and where they lived. Dan was a man of character, eloquence, and brilliant with words as he spoke about life. Dan's true example of how a father loves others was shown in every action and every word spoken. Dan, I will always remember your smile.....thank you for always being a true friend.
