My last memory of my father was sitting across from him at my brother's bedside as he lay dying. One rough hand caressed Brian's cheek while the other held his cold arm. He sat with him for a long time, letting him know he was loved and that he could stop living in pain. This was the second son he would sit by as life slowly left the body. This time he could neither drive or walk, but loyal friends brought him to his son's bedside so he could sit. It is a memory I will never forget. Whatever ill words were ever spoken bewteen us were long forgotten. I felt only love for the man across from me who came to sit with his dying son. I knew then his passing was only a matter of time. Dad, I hope you are resting with your boys and enjoying life again. Kevin and Carol, thank you for that memory.

Oh Danny Boy, The words out that you have fallen, From the River Rouge to your beloved Hills of Boyne. We mourn your loss and all our hearts are crying. Its you that's gone, and sure our grief can't hide But in our hearts, you'll be there, when summer shrouds Boyne Mountain. Or when Boyne Valley is hushed and white with the first winter's snow . We'll be with you there in sunshine or in shadow. Oh Danny Boy, Oh Danny Boy, we all loved you so!!!!!!

In memory of our great friend and fellow Deacon Marine, Danny. My sincere condolences to his wife Vicky, brother Ken and his entire family and many friends. We shared a lifelong friendship that goes back to when my father, Harry grew up with Danny and Ken on Deacon Street in Detroit, dating back to the 1930's, 40's and 50's. Hence the reference to "Deacon Marines". Danny was one of those people whose presence made him seem larger than life. He touched many people and left his mark on many lives. His smile was radiant and those around him felt the warmth that accompanied it. His passing leaves a void that could never be filled. The world is definitely not the same place without him. When I think of Danny, I think of friendship. Befittingly, his father, Ray and uncle Nelson are interred in the Garden of Friendship at Michigan Memorial. I think of Integrity. If you needed a favor, or if he volunteered to do something for you, he would by all means, if it was at all within his power to get it done. He was many things to us Loewengrubers. He was a lifelong friend to my dad and we called him Uncle, in recognition of that. He was a big part of the heritage of our deer camp, that we love so much being a part of. We called him General as it related to his stature there. It was a thrill to have him in camp and it was truly a privilege and an honor to be there with him and all the Wolvins. No problem seemed insurmountable with Danny on watch. When I think of him, I hear that resounding, sometimes devious laugh of his. I see that ever present gleam in his eyes that told of a man who loved life for what it was and lived it the only way he knew how. He was a man who had tremendous pride and love for his family. For one of his many parties, long ago, he asked me to have a huge banner made in honor of the "Magnificent 7". He loved sharing life with family and friends. Nothing was more important to him than that. It was apparent that was entrenched deeply in his core values. Ken, I can only imagine how it feels to have lost your big brother. Hope you take some consolation in knowing how much he loved you and how much he looked up to you, too for what you are and always were to him. When he passed that night of July 3rd, I sat for a very long time, reflecting on him and his life. The world felt different. I could feel a great loss. As I listened to the many local fireworks going off, I thought how appropriate. Little did they know, they were indeed celebrating someone very special. Paying tribute of sorts to something big. Appropriate indeed. Befitting a man like Danny. The consummate Deacon Marine. I know that 5 Star General Ray and Nelson now have enough help, along with Danny, Bruce and Brian to start that next camp at higher elevations. I look forward to joining them all again some day and doing my part.... God bless you, Uncle/General Dan. Friends and fellow Deacon Marines forever. You will always live in our hearts, we will never let your memory die. You will always be with us, guiding us along our way. Love ya, Man.....

"What a Wonderful World" What a Wonderful Man...

Our father, my father was a colorful man. He dreamed in color - vivid, vibrant, brilliant, radiant, rich color...and sometimes he colored outside the lines...

He Loved Life, He Loved People.

He was an Initiator, a Motivator, and an Inspirator...
He was Funloving and Free spirited. All In and All Giving...
He was Engaging, Relateable and Uplifting...

His smile could radiate a room and pulsate a heart...
A Big Big Heart he shared, he extended, he offered...

My father, a Dreamer who Hoped in Love and Hoped in Tomorrow...

You have left your mark and your trail...
Godspeed. We love you...๐Ÿ’—

To the father of the magnificent 7, my Grandfather. I loved him in life and I will never stop. He could sure make the best french toast, no syrup needed. That's one of the memories his great-grandson's, Cruz, Elija and Julian are reminding me of. I have many wondeful memories with him being the oldest grandchild he had. Please make your presence known as we try to continue on without you. He will live on strong in our hearts, until we see him again in heaven. I too have many wonderful memories at multiple ski resorts with him as well as Humingbird Hills. May you rest in peace Grandpa Dan.

I worked many years with Dan at Solace Spa at Boyne Mountain. He loved his job and always performed it to the best of his abilities. He was a good man - kind, sincere and always concerned with the feelings of others. He treated every guest with respect and courtesy and always praised the Boyne Mountain Resort. He will be missed very much. Condolences and prayers to Vicky.
