Dianne (Hannis) Donati

Dianne S. Donati, 74, of Cheboygan passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Alpena Regional Medical Center in Alpena.

A resident of the area since 2002, moving from Taylor, Dianne was born June 29, 1942 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the daughter of Harold and Pauline (Hopkins) Hannis.  She was a graduate of McKenzie High School in Detroit. On January 4, 2002, she married Albert “Al” Donati.  Dianne was employed as a secretary at Michigan Consolidated Gas in Melvindale for 25 years, retiring in 2002.  Together with her husband, Al, she enjoyed walking on the beach of Lake Michigan looking for beach glass, watching the sun set, and watching and photographing freighters.  She served as a volunteer on the Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw museum, was on the last voyage of the cutter prior to its decommissioning, and loved music.  She was a person that if you ever met her, you loved her.

Surviving are her husband, Al, two daughters, Linda Van Winkle of Monroe, and Kathy (Keith) Knudsen of Canton, a son, James Van Winkle of Belleville, four grandchildren, Gabrielle, Miranda, Colin, and Casey, a brother, David Hannis of Detroit, a sister, Deborah Hogenmiller of Holland, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Donnie Hannis.

A memorial service will take place at a later date.
