Elma (Elder) Judson

Elma Judson, 94, of Douglas Lake, peacefully entered into heaven on August 15th, 2015 at her home on Douglas Lake.

Elma was born on August 19, 1920 in Carp Lake to Albert and Elma (Harbaugh) Elder.  She married Wendell Judson on December 3, 1938 in Levering.  A stay at home mom most of her life, she joyfully raised five children, Donald (Jolene) Judson, Judy Judson, Gary (Di) Judson, Linda (Ron) Searles and Wendy Judson.  Her family always brought her happiness and she loved spending time with her children, her 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Preceding Elma in death is her beloved husband of 70 years, Wendell, her son Donald, daughter Judy, her son-in-law Ron and her parents and siblings.

Elma was best known by her family.  A matriarch of sorts, she guided her family with love, fairness and a sense of belonging.  She was always there with a listening ear for sharing your weaknesses, your doubts, your love and your joys.  She was a soul who truly cared about her family and friends with a soft kindness, a heart of gold and a core of steel that made her so very strong in spirit and in her health.  The love she shared was a band that wove into each of us and that we will carry for the rest of our lives in our thoughts and memories of this remarkable woman.  She will be dearly missed and forever loved.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Elma’s life on August 29th at the Levering New Hope Methodist Church, 4516 US Highway 31, Levering, Michigan at 1:00 p.m.
