Frank Jarvis

Frank Jarvis, 86, of Cheboygan, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016 at home.

A lifelong resident of the area, Frank was born December 12, 1929 in Cheboygan, the son of Anthony and Amelia (Rocheleau) Jarvis.  On April 12, 1958 in Cheboygan at St. Charles Catholic Church, he married Elaine Bur, who preceded him in death in 2008.  He served in the U.S. Army as a corporal, during the Korean War with the engineer battalion.  Early in life, he worked on the family farm, later worked in Detroit for the Dodge Motor Company, and upon returning to the area, was employed by the Department of Natural Resources in the Forest Fire Division for 30 years, retiring in 1984.  Frank was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and enjoyed vegetable gardening and working outdoors.

Surviving are his children, Frank (Kerry) Jarvis, of Ypsilanti, Cheryl (Anthony) Polasek of Newaygo, William (Penny) Jarvis of Lebanon, Ohio, and Karen (Steve) Garner of Blue Springs, Missouri,

His grandchildren, Joshua Jarvis, Joseph (Tiffany) Polasek, Melody (Ben) Butters, Krystina Jarvis, Nicholas Jarvis, Matthew Garner, Christopher Garner, one great grandson, Finley Polasek, two sisters, Lucy “Tootie” (Leonard) Barrett of Cheboygan, and Marion (Jerry) Rotelle of Hale, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elaine, and an infant brother, Earl Jarvis

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 11:00am, with the family greeting friends beginning at 10:00am, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Riggsville.  Rev. Duane Wachowiak will officiate, burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
