Joanne V. Savittieri

Joanne V. Savittieri, age 82 of Indian River passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at her home. She was born May 10, 1933 in Cheboygan, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Mageau) Vieau. 

Joanne graduated from Cheboygan High School in 1951 and enjoyed playing cards, board games, going to the casino and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie (Pat) Ball of Pellston, four sons, Rick (Cindy) Elmhirst of Harbor Springs, John (Sandy) Elmhirst of Shelby Township, Steve (Cheri) Elmhirst of Gaylord and Jim (Betty) Elmhirst of Shelby Township, 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 8 siblings and her husband Sam Savittieri.

The funeral mass will be celebrated today, Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Cross in the Woods in Indian River.  The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 AM. The Reverend Mike Haney, OFM will officiate and burial will take place in the spring at Ohioville Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Joanne's name may be directed to Hospice of the Straits.  Arrangements are being handled by the Lintz Funeral Home.
