Mary Lou (McPherson) Behrendt

Mary Lou Behrendt, 84 of Harbor Springs died at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey.

Mary Lou was born on August 25, 1932 in Petoskey, MI, the daughter of Theodore McPherson and Magdalen Reid McPherson.

She grew up in Chicago, IL and attended high school at VonSteuben High School in Chicago and went on to attend college at Lake County Community College in Grayslake, IL.

On August 15, 1953 she married Bruce Behrendt in Chicago. Mary Lou loved dogs and had many as pets over her lifetime. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Petoskey.

Mary is survived by her children Lynn (Stephen Luchs) Behrendt-Luchs, Brett Behrendt, and Brad Behrendt, her grandchildren Megan (Keith) Kepler, Jack Hughes, Mykaela Behrendt, and Nicholas Behrendt, and a brother Robert McPherson. She is preceded in death by her husband Bruce Behrendt and her parents Theodore and Magdalen McPherson.

There will be a private service held at St. Francis Cemetery. The family suggests that any donations in Mary Lou's honor be made to the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society.
