Richard B Chappell

Richard B Chappell, age 89 of Boyne City passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital.

Richard was born on Sept. 15, 1926 in Benton Harbor, MI the son of Burdette E. and Opal E. (Russ) Chappell.  He grew up and graduated from Benton Harbor High School.  Richard then served in the United States Air Force as a Corporal during WWII.  On Dec. 14, 1968 he married Helen I Crouterfield/Johnson at the Boyne City First Presbyterian Church.  Richard worked with the Wolverine Power Company for twenty-five years until his retirement.  He was a member of the Boyne City Masons and the Gideon’s; he also enjoyed flying and working.

Richard is survived by his wife Helen; two children Terri (Ron) Powers and David Johnson; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brother William and sister-in-law Sandra.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Betty Ann Chappell.

A memorial service will be held 11:00AM, Monday September 12, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Boyne City.

Memorial donations may be directed to the church or the Charlevoix County Humane Society.
