Dear Sue: Saw from an anonymous Facebook post that Tim had passed awy last October. What a guy and how blessed you were to havew him so long. Still it's always hard and I know you must miss him. Do you know Sophie Shames McGee of BayView and Flint? She just lost her husband Pat. I visited her in Key West last December. (We were Flint Central classmates.) I live in Evanston now (your old stompin' ground) and enjoy being close to the university, but still summer at Lake St. Helen. I'm sorry to no longer have your address to send you a condolence note.

To Sue, Mark, Steve and family

I cannot express my sense of loss over hearing the sad news of my good friends passing, he was so many things to all of us at the golf club, and even after I relocated to Calif. to my great delight, I would occasionally see Bob and Mark sitting behind home plate in Detroit when the Tiger's game was broadcast nationally....
I was thinking, as I sit here, that If I added up all the time that I sat next to Bob, either at the Gin table or on a golf cart, it could possibly represent a third of my life....
There are three moments in a 20 plus year friendship that will always remain prominent in my mind...the first would be Tim's all air "hole in one" he made on our trip up north with a group of FGC members..it happened to be the first hole in one ever on this new course that we played on our trip north for the weekend.. The club pro was enthusiastically offering Bob anything in the Pro Shop to memorialize the first hole in one, ever hit on his course, which was met with one of Bob's stoic smiles and silence.. so after a period of time the Pro remarked that Bob didn't seem all that excited about his hole in one.... Bob's reply, in his drool voice, was that after hitting 7 or 8 of them they tended to be less important... the look on the Pro's face, someone who had never had a hole in one, was priceless... Secondly, his telling of stories of his youth were always fascinating...he showed me once the broken finger and bones in his rt hand (which prevented him from gripping the club tightly) caused from catching Bob Feller's fast ball pitches, which occurred while serving together in the U.S. Navy... but lastly, I'll remember TIm for his occasional efforts to improve the vocabulary of all those on the "Shelf".. Tim's all time best effort was his observance that one of the members on the shelf, suffered from a condition call "Borborygmi"... along with everyone else.... I never laugh so hard in my life.
You my friend have and will always hold the position of someone who in countless ways made my life and all others that you knew you... better, more interesting and maybe more importantly more relevant.... You will be greatly missed ...
