Ross Eugene Kerton, 89 of Carp Lake and Dade City, FL, died June 26, 2016.
Ross was born on June 21, 1927 in White Lake Township, MI, the son of Glenn and Grace (Ainsley) Kerton, and was raised in Clarkston, graduating from Clarkston High School. Ross then entered the US Army and proudly served his country.
On October 28, 1947, Ross married the former Patricia "Jean" Callahan in Clarkston and the couple made their home in the Oakland County area for several years before moving to Emmet County in 1955. They made their home in Petoskey from 1967 to 1980, when they moved to Carp Lake. Ross worked for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for 34 years, retiring in 1981. On August 5, 1982, Jean preceded Ross in Death.
On January 20, 1984, Ross married Marjorie Jeanette (Brower) Lockey in Key Largo, FL and together they made their home in Carp Lake and in Dade City, FL. Marjorie preceded Ross in death on September 27, 2012 after 28 years of marriage.
Ross enjoyed golf, traveling, and gardening, and loved the Detroit Tigers and all University of Michigan sports - GO BLUE!!!
He is survived by a son, Robert (Maureen) Kerton of Petoskey; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Scott) Schmit of Alanson; grandson, Jonathan (Tracy) Kerton of Petoskey; great granddaughters, Brenna Kerton, Kristin Schmit, Amy Kerton, and Sidney Kerton; sister, Carolyn Clements of Wasilla, Alaska; and by a dear, loved friend, Maxine Harrold and her family.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents; 2 wives; and by a son, James E Kerton on November 25, 2005.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire Harrold family for all of their love and support they freely gave to Ross over the last few years.
Services celebrating Ross' life will be held on Friday, July 1st at 11:00am at the Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00am until the time of service. Burial Will be in the Carp Lake Twp Cemetery.
