Roy C. Marks, Jr.

Roy C. Marks, Jr., age 82, of Cheboygan passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey. He was born September 5, 1934 in Detroit, the son of the late Roy and Nona (Bondy) Marks, Sr. On November 13, 1971 in Cheboygan, Roy married Joan Caldwell.

Roy was a member of St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a "Jack of all Trades" having worked as a mechanic, a carpenter, a cook and a bartender. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and the outdoors. He was very active in Habitat for Humanity and was always willing to help out his family and friends. 

Survivors include his wife, Joan of Cheboygan, four children, Charles (Robin) Marks of Grand Blanc, Michael Marks of Topinabee, Barbara (Billy) Grimm of Detroit and Gale (David) Brankovich of Albion, his siblings, George (Donna) Marks and Cheryl Conners, both of Topinabee, nine grandchildren and many very special nieces and nephews whom he had such a positive influence on in their lives. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ann LaBorde and a brother, Wickie Marks.

Visitation will be held this evening, Monday, January 23, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home with a vigil service beginning at 8:00 PM. The funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church with the family greeting friends beginning at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Duane Wachowiak will officiate. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Riggsville in the spring. Memorial contributions in Roy's name may be directed to the St. Mary/St. Charles Church Elevator Fund or the Michigan Right to Life.
