A. Blaine Clements

A. Blaine Clements, 85, died March 23, 2017 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital.

Blaine was born January 8, 1932, the son of Howard and Helen (Myers) Clements. He grew up in Alanson and attended Alanson High School.

On September 29, 1949, he married Eleanor Sydow in Petoskey. Together, they had four children and made their home in Alanson.

Blaine worked at McRae's lumberyard for 28 years and eventually made it to the position of manager before his retirement. Afterward he was able to spend more time building homes. Blaine also found time to explore one of his greatest joys, farming. He loved to travel with his wife, Eleanor. They made it down to Florida every winter together. He was an Alanson School Board member and served a total of 19 years on the board in various positions, including President. In his free time, Blaine liked to go deer hunting, and play cards games with his friends.

Blaine is survived by his wife, Eleanor Clements of Alanson; his children, Jim (Jennifer) Clements of Alanson, Bob Clements of Petoskey, Deb Clements of Petoskey and Jon Clements of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren, Jackie (David), Jennie (Ryan), Jess (Mark), Jason, Erin (Dave), Cory (Bailey), Christopher (Sherry), Sarah, Stephen (Sonia), Erin (Brent), Erika (C.J.), and Ethan; 22 great grandchildren and one on the way.

Blaine is preceded in death by a grandson, Corey; and his sisters, Bonnie Honeysette and Marlene Holly.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Stone Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
