Elizabeth Fyke

Elizabeth J. “B.J.” Fyke, 85, of Cheboygan, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at her home

A lifelong resident of the area, Elizabeth was born June 5, 1931 in Cheboygan, the daughter of Carl and Elizabeth (Peets) Leonall.  On October 10, 1953 in Cheboygan, she married Morris Fyke, who preceded her in death.  She was employed by the U.S. Postal Service employed her for 18 years, retiring as Post Master in Alanson. Prior to her postal service, she was employed at Standard Products of Gaylord.  In addition, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Primrose Chapter #183 in Indian River.

Surviving are three sons, Dennis (Pamela) Fyke of Richmond, Texas, Barry Fyke of Waterford, and Brett Fyke of Cheboygan, three granddaughters, Whitney (Sammy), Lynsie, and Ashley, 2 great great-grandchildren, Grace and Gage, and a sister, Joan Leonall of Cheboygan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Morris, a son Michael, and brother, Victor Leonall.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 26 2017, from 4:00pm-8:00 pm at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan.  The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 11:00am, with the family greeting friends beginning at 10:00am, at St. James Episcopal Church in Cheboygan.   Rev. Lewis Crusoe will officiate; burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Cheboygan.
