Gerald Charles Looze

Gerald Charles Looze, 78, of Boyne city, died on April 21st at home; surrounded by his loving family.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Including his dog, Cody.

He was born November 11th, 1938 in Detroit to John and Marjorie (Carothers) Looze. He grew up in Boyne City, and attended Boyne City Schools.

Gerald met the love of his life in Dearborn MI in 1957. They were married on August 29th, 1958, and spent their life in Boyne City raising their five children.

Gerald worked as a tradesman, then for Boyne USA until he retired in 2000. After retirement, he and his wife Sandra traveled the country in their motor home.

He was very involved with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved to watch any sporting event they were in. He was an avid fan of Boyne City football, and could be found in the end-zone nearly every home game.

His hobbies included woodworking, traveling, golfing, and recently, started painting.

Gerald had a great faith, and was a member of the Christ Lutheran church in Boyne City.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sandra Looze-Squier. His children Ken (Teri), Tom (Patti), Jerry (Elizabeth), Mike (Kim), Joann Baird (Jeff), and his brother Gary (Susan). Also 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Marjorie Looze, and sister Joanne Miller.

There will be a visitation at the Stackus Funeral home Wednesday April 26th from 5-8 pm. Funeral services will take place at 11:00am Thursday April 27th at Christ Lutheran church in Boyne City, with visitation one hour before service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Christ Lutheran Church or Charlevoix County Humane Society.
