Linda Ann (Johnston) Carroll

Linda Ann Carroll, 68, of Charlevoix, died November 5, 2016.

Linda was born January 10, 1948, the daughter of Russell and Ann Johnston. She grew up in on a farm in Rosebush, Michigan. She obtained her Master's Degree in Teaching from Central Michigan University.

On August 17, 1969, she married Ivan Carroll in their hometown Methodist Church. They were married for 47 wonderful years.

Linda was a Language Arts teacher at Petoskey Middle School for 29 years. She was dedicated to her students and community. For a while, Linda was teaching other teachers in the northern Michigan area through extension classes offered by Central Michigan University, while also taking classes herself as part of continuing education classes as a way to improve herself and be the best teacher possible for her students. Linda was a member of a society of women educators called Delta Kappa Gama and the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel.

She was an excellent cook and a talented painter. She enjoyed crocheting afghans; many of which were generously given as graduation gifts and baby shower presents. Linda loved to read, hunt for mushrooms, cross county ski and walk her woods looking at the wildflowers.

Linda is survived by her husband, Ivan Carroll; brothers, Bob (Sherly) Johnston and Greg (Sue) Johnston; 13 nieces and nephews, and 9 grand nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Epsilon United Methodist Church on May 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Leroy Sutfin will officiate the service.
